Summary
A robot created by her “parents” (the parents of Soren). Her father, Felix, passed away in a fire but in reality, he was killed by the govt for being too powerful in knowledge, and had (almost) all of his creations confiscated. They were never able to find his most important creation, Lottie. After the death of Felix, Lottie and Soren (Lottie’s older brother) were raised by their widowed mother, Kasumi. She has a crow companion, named Kyuunan (救難), who steals metal parts that she uses to grow and repair herself.
Lottie often feels trapped by her circumstances as she is not allowed to reveal herself as a robot and thus restricted by her mom from doing normal activities a young adult would be able to do. She’s been dating Damien since her freshman year of college (so basically for a year) and has to keep it secret from her mom while also keeping her true nature secret from her boyfriend. After the death of her dad, she tends to fall back to her childhood comforts as a way to cope (unlike Soren who acts overly mature as a mask). She also uses writing as means to escape her reality and come up with new places where her problems don’t exist.

In Lottie's eyes, Kasumi is less of her mom and more of a closed off woman who just hates her for the death of her father.

The only person who was there to support Lottie when her dad passed away. He usually is hard to talk to because he is constantly working.

Summary
Soren was forced into a lot of responsibility as a fresh-out-of-middle-school teenager due to the death of his father. Due to this heavy responsibility, he struggles doing things for himself rather than others as he is constantly working and looking after his family. He used to be very passionate in his artistic skills but has given them up to pursue a high-paying engineering career that will keep his family afloat. His low sense of self-respect often results in him coming off as cold or uncaring, but his soft side shows itself when it comes to his sister, Lottie. Lottie also is an android, who he must help hide from their father's enemy and former colleague, Marvin Rhodes. In order to both support his family and keep tabs on Rhodes' next moves, he applies to an internship in Rhodes' business, Rhodes Robotic Company (RRC).

Seeing her as the person she was when he was a child, Soren keeps a soft spot in his mind for his mom. The unfortunate part is she has become a husk of what she was; now she is just a drunken, angry woman.
Lottie - Sister
Though Soren tries his best to support Lottie, he doesn't really understand her. He tries to stop the words that his mother has spoken about Lottie from warping his perspective of her but it's difficult.

Summary
After the death of her husband and lab partner, Felix Aito, Kasumi is left to raise the two kids on her own and also protect them from any govt agents that plan to gather more of Felix’s old work. She tries her best to be a good mom but cracks under the stress and turns to alcoholism.
Story beats: After the group needs shelter and Soren gets injured, Kasumi attempts to step up and be a leader to the chaotic group. This involves Kasumi trying to quit her drinking problem that has plagued the last 7 years of her life. It’s a difficult challenge to beat but Kasumi uses every strategy she can think of. Soren one time catches her washing the already clean dishes just to distract herself from the pain. April tells Soren not to interrupt her as it’s a healthier strategy compared to the ones she’s dealt with.
